Michigan, for the win

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

There is a good chance that the State of Michigan could close up shop on October 1st. We are in horrible debt, and unable to finalize a budget for the following year–or something like that. I guess it’s a good thing that I’m leaving the state on Monday. Maybe I won’t come back. Whatever the outcome, I’m sure it won’t be nearly as interesting as I would envision it. You know, mass chaos, rioting, the burning of the capital, the police being overrun by locals who are tired of their corrupt ways, looting, shootings, the uprise of the Michigan Militia and other such things. Maybe Michigan will become the first state to become disowned from the union.

I’d find and link some articles here, if I wasn’t horribly tired and in the middle of studying for an exam that I have tomorrow / today.

UPDATE:

I decided to stop being lazy, and went in search of a link.

In other news, you should be happy to know that I can now solve a Rubik’s cube in approximately seven minutes.

Updates

Saturday, May 19th, 2007

I just updated to WordPress 2.2 and I do have to say that it is quite awesome.

Since I have been fairly silent on here as of late, I shall update anyone who manages to stumble upon this.

I kinda dropped the whole writing project I was working on.

My skin hates the cold, dry, Michigan air.

I shall be updating more frequently in June as a result of Script Frenzy. My friend Geoff and I are teaming up for the adventure, and I shall be blogging our successes, failures, fights, resolutions, word count, page count and body count.

Maybe I can get Geoff to blog as well…

Stick with XP

Nurse 1:  Did your husband get that new Vista?

Nurse 2:  He did alright.

Nurse 1:  So did mine and he hates it.

Nurse 2:  Why’s that?

Nurse 1:  Well, he told Vista to use this one drive, and it went ahead and overwrote this other drive; he was pissed.  He can’t get on the internet either, because it crashed his driver.

People like this, have no right to mess around with operating systems.

Microsoft should put a warning on the box.  Or wrap their more technical software in idiot-proof packaging.  Think prescription medication.  “Warning, keep out of reach from idiots.  In fact, give this to your children, they will probably have a better idea of what to do with it.”

There should be a computer competency test of some kind before you are allowed to make the purchase of an operating system.  It would probably save Microsoft some money in their technical support areas.

Upgrades and updates

Wednesday, January 31st, 2007

I am now running WordPress 2.1 and the transition was pretty simple. Thanks to a plugin I found that can export your blog content to an xml file, which can be uploaded into the new version of WordPress. I’m sticking with the default theme for the moment, or at least until I find some ambition to feel special and use a different one. The writing project starts tomorrow, and I should be spending my time writing prose for the next few months. I haven’t outlined anything…at all. This will be interesting to say the least.

…and beware WordPress 2.05

Saturday, October 28th, 2006

Yeah, even though I probably messed something up, or didn’t configure something properly; I’m avoiding version 2.05 for the time being. Thanks to version 2.04 and a backup of my database before the ill-fated upgrade, I’m back.

Thankfully.

Edit: (12/02/06)

There is a fix (that doesn’t work for me) that might solve some upgrade issues. It takes the form of a plugin for WP and can be found here.

update-4TW!!!

Tuesday, September 19th, 2006

Yeah, so I’m trying to decide what to do with this site since the plans-that-were-to-be fell through. One of my other friends might offer his semi-artistic skillz in an effort to help revive the aforementioned plans. Since my last post, I have:

  1. Moved back to Jackson (my hometown)
  2. Resumed working at my previous employer.
  3. Taken a newfound interest in writing.
  4. Developed less of an interest in IT and other computer related things.
  5. Even though I still have this desire to become a master coder in some language.

That’s pretty much it. I’d ideally like to keep blogging here, and not retreat to LJ. I’m just trying to figure out what other attractions I can offer people. I am going to try my best to update here on a regular interval.

I’m going to participate in NaNoWriMo
